It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
